China Opposes U.S. Trade Deals That Undermine Its Interests

China released a firm warning to nations which advises them to avoid signing trade agreements with the United States that would damage Chinese interests. The Commerce Ministry of China released its statement after President Donald Trump declared broad tariffs against all U.S. trading partners on April 2 which led to market instability before he increased the tariffs specifically against China.

The ministry declared its opposition to any deals which threaten Chinese interests while promising decisive countermeasures against such agreements. The statement underlined Beijing’s firm commitment to defend its economic rights. The countries of Taiwan and Japan and South Korea have started negotiations with Washington because of Trump’s tariff threats.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged these nations to join the U.S. in developing a collective strategy against China. The Commerce Ministry labeled U.S. tariffs against other countries as “economic bullying” while expressing growing diplomatic tension. The current trade negotiations demonstrate China’s preparedness to defend its economic standing against any threatening actions.
